What We Believe

We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testament as verbally inspired by God and that it is of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is true God and true man.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners in thought, word, and deed.

We believe that those who receive by faith the Lord Jesus, are born again by the Holy Spirit, and thereby become the children of God, possessing eternal life. This is a relationship in which they are eternally secure.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is one of three persons of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is in the life of every believer, empowering the preaching and teaching of the gospel.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into Heaven, His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate and in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost.

We believe that the Church, the body of Christ, is a congregation of immersed believers, observing the ordinances of Christ, exercising certain gifts of the Holy Spirit, fulfilling the privileges and responsibilities given in the New Testament, and that the ordinances of the Church, given by our Lord, are Baptism (by immersion) and the Lord’s Table (communion).
